  This proposed research will measure the impact rising fuel costs are having among American consumers’ behaviors (i.e., changes in driving behavior, changes in spending on “luxury items,” etc.), as well as how rising fuel costs are impacting the automotive industry and its future plans.  This proposed research will primarily benefit automotive manufacturers, however, it is far reaching to other industries: automotive repair service and parts, automotive insurance, travel, entertainment, etc.
